"Wanda Lock, an artist and curator born in Oliver, British Columbia, in 1969, has made significant contributions to the art world. Her artistic journey, marked by themes of domesticity, nostalgia, and banality, began at Okanagan College and culminated in a studio major in painting from Emily Carr College of Art & Design in 1992. Lock’s artistic practice extends across various mediums, including drawing, collage, and installation, exploring the emotional and historical nuances of domestic spaces.
In addition to her artistic pursuits, Lock has been an active curator since 2015, holding the position at the Lake Country Art Gallery. Her curatorial work fosters meaningful connections between artists, artworks, and viewers.
Noteworthy exhibitions include group exhibition “Significant Forms” spring 2024 at the Kelowna Art Gallery and “A Year from Now: works from the permanent collection"" at the Kelowna Art Gallery in 2021, where she guest curated. And her solo exhibit ""The Year We Disappeared"" at the Vernon Public Art Gallery in 2020.
Lock’s art resides in public collections such as the Kelowna Art Gallery, Penticton Art Gallery, Headbones Art Gallery, and the Vernon Public Art Gallery. Her career includes solo shows, group exhibitions, and site-specific installations, with notable projects like ""Kate & Molly"" at the Kelowna International Airport in 2022 and ""Escape Artists"" in collaboration with Rena Warren at the Kelowna Art Gallery in 2016.
Currently residing in Lake Country, BC, Lock continues her art practice."
