British Columbia’s coastline was one of Barb’s favorite subjects. She was commissioned by BC Ferries to produce a series of etchings depicting the various ferry harbours up and down the coast. The scenes included ferries just coming in or leaving the docks. Most of these were reproduced in multiple copies as hand tinted etchings and given out by BC Ferries to their staff as retirement gifts. As a Maritimer, born in Halifax, she relished to coastal assignments and a chance to get some salt air on her face and salt spray on her brush. Most of these works are in private hands, however her love of ships and the sea side is reflected in the coastal scenes in this collection.
