Gale Woodhouse
Fair Market Value of $ 450. Gale Woodhouse "Hare" Medium – Raku fired clay. Size – 14x14x6
Gale practices her art beside Okanagan Lake in British Columbia, Canada. Clay sculpture is complimented with abstract landscape mixed media painting. She is an instructor at the Vernon Community Arts Centre and is also on the board of directors at the Caetani Cultural Centre.
Gale was born in England, where she received a Bachelor of Education, specializing in art and design. Following a studio ceramics program at Hereford College of Art, Gale trained and apprenticed as a studio potter. The skills she acquired as a teacher of art and design and her study in ceramics opened opportunities to explore many pathways once she emigrated to Canada in 1986.
Living on the West Coast of British Columbia enriched Gale’s studio practice as an artist and reenergized and motivated her to pursue a creative life. She fell in love with Canada and fell in love with the Sunshine Coast of British Columbia.
A move away from the ocean to the Okanagan Valley introduced Gale to the rich arts network of the Okanagan and reawakened in her a desire once again to explore the world of fine art, with a focus on mixed media abstract painting and printmaking.
Today, Gale enjoys a studio practice immersed in creativity and constant exploration. Once described by her peers as a “compulsive creative able to be inspired by a house brick”, she indulges in her love of the natural world and all things art.
Gale believes in paying forward and passionately teaches all that she knows and all that she has learnt from others.
