"My paintings often include textures such as fabrics and various other mediums because touch is as important as sight. Inspired by nature’s colours and shapes, I begin the creative process with a focal point and then move around the canvas until the edges are anchored.  I try not to forget the edges of a painting as I don’t want the subject to float.  The shapes within the painting and their relationship to each other are integral to the works’ entire expression. I paint for my own pleasure, but hope that viewers will respond to my art by identifying something to which they can personally relate.  I love to paint and most often start with a blank canvas and have no idea where it will go.  My whole medical career was based on listening to symptoms, deciding on a diagnosis, and developing a plan of diagnostic tests or a treatment plan. Now I can just wing it"
